MGCP is Media Gateway Control Protocol. It is a protocol used within a Voice over IP system. MGCP is defined in an informational (non-standard) IETF document, RFC 3435, which obsoletes an earlier definition in RFC 2705. It superseded the Simple Gateway Control Protocol.

MGCP uses UDP. For gateways it uses port 2427 and for call agents, port 2727.
